In Short: Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold will likely miss at least one game after sustaining a hip injury in the team's season opener against the New England Patriots.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold will likely miss at least one game after sustaining a hip injury in the team's season opener against the New England Patriots, according to Fox News. Darnold hobbled off the field after being sacked early in the game and did not return. Backup Drew Lock took over and led the Seahawks to a 13-10 victory.

The injury, which initially raised concerns about a potential fracture, was determined to be a muscle strain via an MRI, NFL Media reported. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said, 'Sam dodged a bullet. He shouldn’t miss an extended period of time.

Lock, who finished with 187 passing yards and a 113.3 passer rating, is expected to remain the starting quarterback if Darnold is sidelined. Second-year player Jalen Milroe will serve as the backup. Darnold, 29, is in his second season with the Seahawks and was ruled out for the rest of the game after the initial injury.

Chao, a popular sports doctor, shared on X that a positive X-ray for a fracture could mean a long-term injury for Darnold. The Seahawks' next game is scheduled for next week, with Lock expected to continue leading the team.
