Apple TV has renewed the acclaimed series 'Slow Horses' for at least two more seasons, with Gary Oldman set to lead the eighth season, according to the A.V. Club. The show, which may have missed out on an Emmy nomination last year, is returning with a new season adapting author Mick Herron’s novel 'Clown Town.

Series creator Will Smith has officially departed the show, handing showrunner duties over to Gaby Chiappe for the upcoming sixth season and Ben Vanstone for the seventh, as reported by the A.V. Club. The newly greenlit Season 8 is guaranteed, with Oldman in the lead.

Olivia Cooke, who played Sid in the first season of 'Slow Horses,' is returning to the show after a four-year absence, as confirmed by CNET. The complete episodic release schedule for Slow Horses season 6 has been announced, with the first episode set to air on September 16.

Beyond that, Apple TV’s spy thriller is a well-written, engaging, and often funny series that gives a unique spin on the spy genre, according to CNET. The show is inspired by Mick Herron’s Slough House books, which all center around the crew of Slough House, a home for MI5’s rejects.
