Developer Nassif Testifies Before Icac
Developing
In Short: Jean Nassif, a fugitive property developer, began testifying before the NSW Icac, vowing to speak his truth about his 25-year career in Australia.
Although the video connection with Jean Nassif, who is appearing from his bedroom in Beirut, has occasionally been interrupted, presiding commissioner Fabian Gleeson SC has assured Nassif that he is not compelled to give evidence and has the right to remain silent.
Nassif, wearing a white, open-collared shirt, stated, 'I don’t wish to have legal advice,' before declaring, 'I’m going to speak my heart, and I’m going to say exactly what happened with me in my whole entire career for 25 years in Australia.
The testimony comes as the Icac continues its investigation into Nassif’s activities and potential legal implications.
