Australian Family Found Dead in Bali Home: Police Investigate

Australian authorities are investigating the deaths of 56-year-old Damien John Shaw and his two children, a six-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl, who were found dead in their bungalow in Kuta, a popular tourist area in Bali. Neighbours were alerted by the man's wife, who had recently arrived in Jakarta, after hearing her child cry while on the phone with Mr. Shaw.
The family had been leasing the bungalow in Kuta since 2022, according to police. Kuta Police First Police Inspector I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya stated that the victim's wife remains in deep shock and grief, limiting progress in the investigation.
Neighbours and the community head forced their way into the property after there was no response to their knocks, discovering the bodies of the children and Mr. Shaw. Police have not yet determined the cause or manner of death and are conducting further examinations.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is providing consular assistance to the family, and the case is being treated as a suspected murder-suicide by Australian media reports.
