Amazon Suspends Use of 21 Air After Miami Crash

Amazon announced on Sunday that it was ending its operations with 21 Air LLC, the cargo airline that operated the aircraft that crashed in Miami last week, killing five people on the ground.
Following the tragic incident, Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel stated, 'Safety has always been our top priority, whether in our own operations or when we're working with partners.' The company will use other carriers to handle shipments that had previously been assigned to 21 Air.
The incident occurred on September 6, when a Boeing 767 cargo aircraft bearing the Amazon Prime Air logo overran the runway at Miami International Airport after landing, broke through the airport perimeter fence and crashed into several vehicles.
Former 21 Air employees had raised concerns about the company’s safety culture even before the Miami incident, and the crash site was described as a scene of 'utter devastation' by NTSB chairwoman Jennifer Homendy.

- “Following last weekend’s tragic incident, we took time to support the investigation and review some of the circumstances surrounding it. As a result, we decided to suspend our operations with 21 Air, the operator of Flight 7598,” Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said.
