President Donald Trump has downplayed the risks posed by artificial intelligence, despite a series of dire warnings from experts who call for slowing down development. According to reports, top industry bosses, including Elon Musk and Sam Altman, have backed calls for a slowdown to reduce the risk of something going seriously wrong.

One of the warnings came from a former Anthropic researcher who said, 'there is a strong chance that we could all die in the immediate future' if the current pace of development continued. The Anthropic CEO, Dario Amodei, has called for AI development to slow down, but only to avoid allowing China to pull ahead.
