The Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up top prospect Josue De Paula from Double-A, according to reports on Wednesday, as they prepare for the playoffs with their star player, Shohei Ohtani, sidelined with injuries.

Ohtani, a two-time MVP, has been hampered by a left knee and right biceps injury, missing his sixth game in the Dodgers' last seven and prompting the team to officially place him on the injured list.

De Paula, considered one of baseball's top prospects, is expected to get at-bats at designated hitter, stepping in for Ohtani as the Dodgers aim to secure a historic three-peat this October.

The 22-year-old De Paula, who signed with the Dodgers in 2022, hit 27 home runs in 588 plate appearances with the Tulsa Drillers, posting a slash line of.303/.401/.547, and is a top-five prospect in the organization according to MLB Pipeline.
