Vande Bharat Freight Train Begins Trials on Ahmedabad-Mumbai Route

In Short: The Indian Express reports that the country's first Vande Bharat freight train has started trials on the Western Railway between Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central.
The Indian Express confirms that the Vande Bharat freight train, developed by Chennai's Integral Coach Factory (ICF), has commenced its trial run on the Western Railway (WR) between Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central.
According to the report, the trial run is being conducted to assess the train's performance and safety at varying speeds, with teams from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and ICF present.
During its initial trial on the Chaumahla-Shamgarh-Gurla section of the West Central Railway (WCR), the train reached a speed of 145 kmph in an empty condition.
The testing included checks on emergency braking and the train's overall performance and movement at different speeds, with trials conducted on both the Up and Down lines of the Nagda-Kota-Sawai Madhopur section of the WCR zone.
What's still developing
- Based on the Vande Bharat series, the 16-coach Freight EMU has been designed to transport parcels and other goods at high speed.
