Confirmed

Entertainment Desk

In Short: The Odyssey has shattered box office records, becoming Universal Pictures' highest-grossing movie ever with global earnings of $1.684 billion.

By the end of this weekend, The Odyssey will have amassed $601.2 million domestically and $1.083 billion internationally, making it the 12th highest-grossing film ever and the third-biggest non-franchise title of all time. Additionally, it has become the highest-grossing Universal Pictures film in 45 international markets, including Australia, France, Italy, India, and Korea.

Universal continues to lead all major studios with more than $4.92 billion in box office earnings to date. However, not everyone is impressed, as Fox Business noted, "Bad movies, and books, and TV shows, get released every day." The studio's success may also be attributed to the fact that Hollywood isn't making a lot of movies these days, according to Fox Business.

In a recent interview, Winkler, who directed The Odyssey, admitted, "I don’t even remember the title of that movie," when asked by Andy Cohen if he had seen it in theaters. Winkler further explained that he was not "suited" to direct the movie but accepted the job after being handpicked by Disney executive Jeffrey Katzenberg.
