Ambulance Caught Smuggling Booze in Gujarat, Not Patients

In Short: In dry Gujarat, an ambulance was caught ferrying 1,968 bottles of illegal Indian Made Foreign Liquor instead of patients, according to reports.
While the ambulance appeared to be transporting a patient, it was actually carrying 1,968 bottles of illegal Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), hidden inside a cabinet, according to The Indian Express.
The Amreli Police had received a tip-off that a vehicle was transporting illegal IMFL between Madhya Pradesh and Rajkot in Gujarat, and would pass through their district.
On Friday evening, the police spotted the ambulance as it rolled up, leading to its interception.
Inspector R R Parmar of Babara police station confirmed that the ambulance was being used for bootlegging, with the driver and owner, Gohel, admitting to this activity.

- “Gohel said he had purchased the ambulance from another person, who had, in turn, purchased it from a hospital in Surat. We are checking the registration records as part of further investigation,” Parmar said.
