Samsung is reportedly developing a new line of over-ear headphones that could directly compete with Apple's AirPods Max, according to recent leaks. The headphones, internally referred to as 'Galaxy H1,' are expected to feature advanced connectivity, noise cancellation, and other premium features.
According to the leaks, the Galaxy H1 will support Bluetooth 6.0 and the SSC UHQ audio codec, offering improved audio quality and connectivity. The headphones will also include Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANC) and an ambient sound mode, as well as AI assistant integration and Auto Switch support. These features are designed to enhance user experience and provide a more seamless interaction with smart devices.
SammyGuru, a tech analyst, identified multiple strings and an illustration of the upcoming headphones in an unspecified APK. The illustration clearly shows an over-ear design, and other evidence suggests that the headphones will also feature 360 Audio, which tracks the user's head movements to adjust the audio accordingly. This feature is expected to provide a more immersive listening experience.
The over-ear form factor, coupled with the advanced features, indicates that Samsung is aiming to capture a significant share of the premium headphone market. It's been a decade since Samsung produced over-ear headphones under the Level branding, and the company is now positioning itself to compete with established brands like Apple, Bose, and Sony.
Additionally, the Galaxy H1 is expected to share some features with Samsung's most recent earbuds, including Conversation mode. This feature automatically switches the headphones to ambient sound mode when it detects the user speaking, allowing for clearer conversations without removing the headphones. The left and right earcups will also have separate physical and touch-sensitive controls, providing a more intuitive user experience.
