In a telegram to Rome’s Chief Rabbi Riccardo Di Segni, the pontiff expressed his hope that these celebrations would be a source of joy and blessings from the Most High.
The Vatican has also announced that Pope Leo XIV has appointed Franciscan Father Gerardo Antonio Vargas Cruz as coadjutor bishop of Fajardo-Humacao, Puerto Rico.
The bishop-designate will succeed Bishop Miranda upon his retirement, as required by canon law, which mandates bishops to submit their resignation to the pope when they turn 75.
As Pope Leo XIV prepares for his upcoming trip to France, three vehicles, including two popemobiles and a golf cart, will accompany him, with the popemobiles being transported by truck.
