French TV Disruptor Jeremy Zag Talks Building ‘Miraculous’ Universe, Plans For A Live-Action Series & Latest On Katy Perry Animated Movie ‘Melody’

In Short: RuPaul's Drag Race UK is ending its run on the BBC after eight series, moving to a new streaming platform.

The show, which sees drag queens compete in challenges judged by RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Graham Norton, and Alan Carr, will continue to feature celebrity guest judges. A spin-off series, vs The World, will also be available on the same platform.

Jeremy Zag, co-creator of the Miraculous franchise, discussed his plans for the animated series. "Fans of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir can expect a live-action version of the show," he said. Zag, who was honored as Deadline's 2026 French TV Disruptor, aims to create a universe that spans TV, film, games, and merchandise.

Zag also provided updates on the animated feature film Melody, starring Katy Perry. "Katy is very involved in the movie; she’s playing a main character, she’s working on the songs, and she’s also working on the story," he explained. Meanwhile, his studio, Zag Entertainment, is making progress on the project.

In addition to these projects, Zag's team is developing a live-action version of Miraculous and has a series of new superheroes ready to join Ladybug. "The final dream is to create a Zag World," he said, hinting at a vast, interconnected universe of characters and stories.

The show has been broadcast on the BBC for eight series RuPaul's Drag Race UK is leaving the BBC after eight series, the broadcaster has confirmed.
Future series - as well as its spin-off vs The World - will be broadcast on Wow Presents Plus, a streaming platform owned by the production company behind the show.
A new series, Drag Race UK All Stars, which sees previous fan favourites return to compete again, will premiere in Autumn 2027 exclusively on Wow Presents Plus.
Zag explained how with Miraculous and other work he always sets out to create a whole universe, spanning TV and film as well as games and merch.
“We’re going to keep the DNA of what people love about Miraculous,” Zag said about the project.
Giving Deadline the latest on Melody with Katy Perry, Zag told us things are moving forward.
He was feted as Deadline’s 2026 French TV Disruptor this week at Unifrance’s Rendez-Vous market, recognizing his work creating animated series and movies that have travelled the world.
Host Andy Cohen then asked Winkler if he had gone to see the movie in theaters. "I don’t even remember the title of that movie," Winkler said.
