French TV Disruptor Jeremy Zag Talks Building ‘Miraculous’ Universe, Plans For A Live-Action Series & Latest On Katy Perry Animated Movie ‘Melody’

Drag Race UK, a popular drag competition show, is set to leave the BBC after eight successful series, according to reports. Starting with the next series, including the spin-off vs The World, will air exclusively on Wow Presents Plus, a streaming platform owned by the show's production company. The move signals a shift towards digital platforms for the show's future.

Jeremy Zag, the co-creator of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, has announced plans for a live-action adaptation of the animated series. Zag, who was honored as the 2026 French TV Disruptor at Unifrance’s Rendez-Vous market, explained that the live-action version will maintain the essence of the original series, promising to keep the DNA that fans love. He also revealed that Katy Perry is involved in the upcoming animated film Melody, with the singer playing a main character and contributing to the story and songs.

Zag Entertainment, the studio behind Miraculous and other successful animated series, is making progress on Melody, an animated feature film featuring Katy Perry. The project is moving forward, with Perry deeply involved in the creative process. Zag also hinted at the creation of a 'Zag World,' a universe spanning various media, including TV, film, games, and merchandise.

Future series of Drag Race UK, including the all-stars edition, will premiere exclusively on Wow Presents Plus. The show, which features drag queens competing in challenges judged by RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Graham Norton, and Alan Carr, will continue to entertain audiences through this new streaming platform. A new series, Drag Race UK All Stars, is set to air in autumn 2027, featuring fan favorites returning to compete again.

The live-action adaptation of Miraculous is in the works, with Nao Nomura, Hitomi Kitagawa, and Saki Michimoto directing the series, and Ayumi Shimo penning the scripts. The series, based on the manga Ao to Midori, will premiere on October 5, 2023, on BS Asahi and other channels, with the opening theme song performed by ONE N’ ONLY.

The series stars Naoya Kusakawa as Midori Yamamura and Hidekazu Chinen as Ao Hayama.
The series will stream online first on Lemino starting on October 5 at 10:00 a.m., and will stream on TVer after the BS Asahi broadcasts.
