Emma Barnett, who joined BBC Radio 4’s Today programme in 2024, is poised to leave the show, just weeks after Amol Rajan’s departure, according to reports.

The presenter is understood to have been in long discussions over fronting a major new current affairs podcast for BBC Sounds, leading to her decision to quit the Today programme.

Barnett presented Rajan’s final show at the start of the month, marking the end of Rajan’s tenure on the programme, which began in 2021.

Metro.co.uk reports that Barnett is reportedly set to quit Radio 4 ‘within weeks’, with the acknowledging that there will always be rumors and speculation about the Today programme and its presenters.

In a touching farewell, Rajan expressed, 'It has been such an honour sitting in this studio with you, Emma, with all the presenters but above all, with the amazing team behind the glass.
