AMC and Canal+ have given the greenlight to a new 'Point Break' television series, set to debut in early 2024, following the development of the series based on the iconic 1991 film starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves.
Dan McDermott, chief content officer of AMC Global Media and president of AMC Studios, expressed excitement over the project, stating, 'Start with one of the most entertaining and unforgettable action films ever made, add a powerhouse creative team and producing partners, massive fan interest that has been clear from the moment we announced the series was in development and you get a greenlight we could not be more excited about.
The series, set in the present day over thirty years after the film's events, centers on a new heist crew with ties to the notorious Ex-Presidents gang, while the FBI must rely on a mysterious ex-pro surfer with a checkered past to infiltrate them.
Rogers, known for producing series including Apple’s Sugar and AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire, will serve as co-showrunners, alongside other unnamed creative teams.
