The Rams and 49ers meet in the first-ever NFL Australia Game on Thursday night in Melbourne, as the NFC West rivals square off after splitting their season series last year. The game will kick off at Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia, at 10:30 PM ET.
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who ultimately won the NFL MVP, had seven touchdowns and zero interceptions across those two games. The 49ers were without quarterback Brock Purdy and defensive end Nick Bosa in both of those games. The 49ers arrived in Melbourne a week before the game, while the Rams spent just over 24 hours Down Under before the 10:30 PM kick-off.
Both sides took vastly different travel strategies ahead of the first-ever regular season NFL game in Australia. A rushing touchdown to Kyren Williams gave the Rams a four-point advantage, before an interception by the Rams a few minutes later threatened to sink San Francisco. However, the 49ers defence was able to hold out until Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford threw a pick of his own.
