In Short: Trump administration official-turned-podcaster Katie Miller reportedly held a $500,000 stake in Elon Musk’s AI company xAI while criticizing rivals online, raising ethics concerns.

Katie Miller, who now hosts The Katie Miller Podcast, defended her ownership of xAI shares and said there was nothing wrong with her hundreds of posts criticizing other AI companies.

Miller, who left the Trump administration in December, purchased the shares in xAI after working with Musk on the White House’s DOGE cost-cutting program.

Despite concerns from ethics experts, Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson defended Miller, stating that there was nothing inherently wrong with her actions.

The Millers later sold the shares, and in February, xAI became part of Musk’s SpaceX, valuing the AI component at $250 billion, with the combined company going public in June, making Musk the world’s first trillionaire.
