The Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up top prospect Josue De Paula from Double-A, according to multiple reports, as they prepare for the upcoming playoffs with Shohei Ohtani sidelined due to a knee and biceps injury.

Ohtani, a two-time MVP, has missed six games in the Dodgers' last seven, and the team has decided to officially place him on the injured list.

De Paula, who signed a $397,500 contract with the Dodgers in 2022, is expected to step in at designated hitter in Friday's game against the Miami Marlins.

The power-hitting outfielder, ranked as a top-five prospect by MLB Pipeline, is coming off a career-high 124 games in the minors this season, hitting 27 home runs with a slash line of.303/.401/.547.

With Ohtani out, the Dodgers are relying on De Paula to help fill the void and support their bid for a historic three-peat in the playoffs.
