Delhi Trains Face Major Operational Changes for BRICS Summit

Delhi's rail network is set to experience substantial changes from September 11 to 13, as the city prepares for the BRICS Leaders’ Summit. According to Northern Railway, these alterations include the cancellation and diversion of 26 trains, as well as the rerouting of long-distance services to avoid sensitive areas.
Some trains will neither originate nor terminate at their usual stations, with new destinations including Ghaziabad, Sahibabad, Delhi Shahdara, and Shakurbasti. The changes also involve the cancellation of 26 trains and the diversion of more than a dozen others, with EMU trains between Delhi and nearby suburban destinations particularly affected.
To ensure the security of the event and the movement of VIPs, Northern Railway has developed a detailed train movement plan. This includes route diversions for long-distance services and changes to the originating or terminating stations for a large number of trains, affecting around 120 services in the Delhi Division.
In a statement, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, said, 'Due to operational reasons, some trains will be cancelled, diverted, short-terminated, short-originated, rescheduled, regulated, or have changes to their terminal stations from September 11 to September 13, 2026.
