The incident involved a Boeing 767 aircraft operated by 21 Air, a cargo carrier with an operations center in Miami that performs flights for companies like Amazon and DHL. The plane appeared to be resting on its belly and was largely intact despite the fire, as reported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials.
Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel stated, 'This is a fast-moving situation and we’re still gathering details,' while the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that the aircraft overran the runway around 2 p.m. on Sunday after arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Meanwhile, Amazon is working closely with local authorities to understand the exact circumstances of the crash and is doing everything it can to support those affected, according to a statement from the company.
