A White House official explained, 'He has a longstanding practice of giving Christmas gifts to people in his orbit, including at times employees and aides, both in government and in his time in the private sector.
Harp, known for her close proximity to the president, was one of the three aides who joined Trump in hiding out in an airport catering cart and secretly switching planes for a flight to Britain from the NATO summit in Turkey after an Iranian threat.
The gifts were part of a larger bonus package, with Harp receiving the same amount as Margo Martin, the communications adviser, and Chamberlain Harris, whose title is deputy director of Oval Office operations.
