Samsung Ends Support for Galaxy Watches That Revived Wear OS

Debuting in August 2021, the Galaxy Watch 4 lineup marked Samsung’s high-profile departure from Tizen OS to co-develop Wear OS 3 alongside Google. The company promised four generations of Wear OS updates, which it fully delivered, culminating in the final Wear OS 6/One UI 8 Watch update.
Both the vanilla Galaxy Watch 4 and the physical-bezel Galaxy Watch 4 Classic have now been removed from the list of supported devices. This means that these watches will no longer receive security updates, though they will continue to function without abrupt stoppages.
The end of support for these devices comes as Samsung prepares to unveil a new foldable iPhone that could rival its Android competitors, including the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The tech giant is also rumored to unveil a new iPhone Ultra, expected to be a compact device similar to Samsung’s Z Fold 8, priced around $2,000.
