Luis Cruz, the manager, tackled the girl to the ground just moments before a minivan crossed the lane she would have entered.
The incident occurred on Sunday, September 6, 2026, outside the grocery store where Cruz works. The store awarded him 20,000 Mexican pesos – roughly $1,184 – for his heroic actions.
Cruz quickly reacted to the situation, sprinting after the girl who had wandered into the busy road and grabbing her while diving to the ground, pulling her backwards as they both tumbled safely to the ground in the lane closest to the store.
