Man Charged After Alleged Axe Attack on Family in Gippsland, Victoria

In Short: A 48-year-old man has been arrested three days after allegedly attacking his parents and brother with an axe in Tyers, Victoria.

Peter O’Ryan, 48, is alleged to have entered his family home in Cowies Road, Tyers, about 12:30pm on Saturday, when an argument began, according to reports.

The attack, which allegedly involved an axe or hatchet, left O’Ryan facing multiple charges including three counts of intentionally causing serious injury, police said.

O’Ryan was arrested on Tuesday night after police were called about a man suspiciously loitering around Tyers-Walhalla Road, near where the attack happened.

The incident occurred in the small Gippsland town of Tyers, where an argument broke out just after midday on Saturday, followed by the alleged attacks on his brother and elderly parents.
