The actress, who starred as Elaine Benes, revealed that there was 'tons' of friction behind the scenes as the cast and creators worked to get the groundbreaking comedy just right.
Despite the occasional clashes, Louis-Dreyfus believed in what they were creating from the start. 'It’s hard to do anything really well and it takes a lot of work and you’re going to butt heads,' she noted. However, she generally had an easy rapport with David when it came to her lines, and could work through scenes collaboratively with costars Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards.
Louis-Dreyfus's history with Seinfeld creator Larry David actually predates the show itself. 'They'll never pick it up,' she recalled, referring to the show's initial challenges. Despite the difficulties, the cast and creators managed to build a comedy around the small annoyances and awkward encounters of everyday life, making 'Seinfeld' a television phenomenon.
In an exclusive interview, Louis-Dreyfus described the show as 'a show about nothing,' focusing on the small, often overlooked moments of daily life. 'Set largely in New York City, the series follows a fictionalized version of comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his close-knit, frequently self-absorbed circle of friends: George Costanza, Elaine Benes, and Cosmo Kramer,' she explained.
