Sir Tom Jones, the legendary Welsh singer, has expressed his disappointment at being removed from his coaching role on The Voice UK, a show he has been associated with since its inception in 2012. Jones, known for hits like 'It's Not Unusual' and 'What's New Pussycat?', claims he was not thrilled about the 'much-reduced role' offered for the 2027 series and did not want to leave the show. ITV, however, cited 'financial difficulty with insurance' as the reason for his departure.

Jones took to Instagram to clarify his position, stating, 'To be clear, I did not want to leave The Voice as I love the show and really appreciate the audience.' He further alleged that ITV made the decision 'a while ago' and only recently informed him of the change.

The Voice UK currently features Jones alongside US rapper will.i.am, Kelly Rowland, and the McFly stars Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones. Jones, who has been a coach on the show for nearly a decade, is best known for his booming baritone voice and a successful music career spanning over six decades.

According to reports, ITV is in talks with Jones and is hopeful he will return to the series. However, Jones is not thrilled about the 'financial difficulty with insurance' cited as the reason for his departure. He also suggested that ITV's decision was based on a desire to 'refresh' the show's lineup.

In a statement, Jones said, 'The only thing I know right now, is that there’s never a good time to fire an 86-year-old who’s still pretty good at his job.' Olly Murs, a former colleague on the judging panel, expressed his support for Jones, adding, 'I’m sure he’ll be back soon.

Fans and celebrities have shown their support for Jones, with several comments appearing on his Instagram post. The current season of The Voice UK is airing every Saturday on ITV, with Jones still appearing as a coach.

Jones's departure has sparked debate about the show's future and the reasons behind his removal, with some speculating that ITV may be looking to revamp the show's lineup.
