Framework is giving some customers a RAM refund
Confirmed
In Short: Framework is providing RAM refunds and price reductions for some Laptop 13 Pro preorders, aiming to pass on savings to customers amid component shortages.

Framework is offering RAM refunds and price reductions for some Laptop 13 Pro preorders, according to reports. The company found a limited quantity of lower-cost RAM and is sharing the savings with existing preorder customers first, before extending the offer to new preorders and pending orders.
In a rare positive update, Framework is lowering the RAM prices for some buyers of the Laptop 13 Pro. The company is committed to keeping computers accessible and is rolling out price reductions across both already shipped and pending pre-orders.
If any of the lower-cost RAM is left after fulfilling existing orders, Framework will offer it to customers in the remaining preorder batches and new preorders. The company is also issuing refunds for the price difference for preorders that shipped with the higher RAM price.
Pending orders configured with 32GB or 64GB of LPCAMM2 will receive priority, with Framework cutting the laptop's price in turn. The company is also offering those with existing orders the option to switch to the higher-end configuration to secure the discount.
What's confirmed
- After increasing the laptop’s memory pricing in July, Framework says it “secured a limited quantity of Micron 32GB and 64GB LPCAMM2 memory modules at lower cost,” and plans to share the savings: We are committed to passing on savings whenever we can and keeping computers as accessible as possible in the current environment, so we are rolling out price reductions across both already shipped and a subset of currently pending pre-orders.
What's still developing
- Framework has also said that if it can source more of the memory at its discounted rate, it will extend the offer to ensure as many of its customers as possible can benefit.
- After several RAM-related price hikes, modular laptop maker Framework has cut the price of its Laptop 13 Pro after securing a limited batch of cheaper sticks.
- Although Framework has attempted to offer cheaper options for customers, including RAM-less builds, it has been forced to raise prices multiple times as memory costs spun out of control.
