CloudNC Raises $20M for Manufacturing Automation Software
Confirmed
In Short: UK-based CloudNC, a startup that offers AI-powered CAM Assist software, has secured a $20 million B extension round, bringing its total lifetime funding to $128 million.
CloudNC, a UK-based manufacturing software startup, has announced a $20 million B extension round, bringing its total lifetime funding to $128 million. Founded in 2015 by Saville and Chris Emery, the company's AI-powered CAM Assist software automates parts of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining, addressing the manual and time-consuming processes traditionally required by machinists and programmers.
This is where CloudNC's CAM Assist comes in, a software that plugs into traditional CAM systems to help machinists and programmers make more efficient strategic manufacturing decisions. The company has been steadily expanding its software platform and has also developed its own robotic machining line called Machine, which it positions as a proof point for its automation capabilities.
A $20 million extension, rather than a brand-new priced round, suggests CloudNC's existing investor base wanted to keep fueling growth without necessarily forcing a fresh valuation conversation in a market where industrial tech valuations have been under pressure. Manufacturing software companies tend to sell into long enterprise sales cycles, meaning revenue growth can look slow even when adoption is picking up steam.
What's still developing
- Before a part can be cut, Saville said, a machinist or a computer-aided manufacturing programmer has to decide issues like how a part should be held or what tools should be used, Saville said.
- “Traditional CAM systems are powerful, but in most workflows, they are still tools that allow programmers to manually specify how a part should be machined,” Saville said.

- What happens next will say a lot about whether this extension is a stepping stone to a bigger raise or a sign CloudNC is settling in for a longer runway before its next major fundraising push.
- The cash comes as factories worldwide keep bleeding money on machining inefficiencies, and CloudNC's betting its automation software is the fix that finally sticks.
- Manufacturing has been one of the slowest sectors to modernize, even as software has eaten nearly everything else.
