Apple has unveiled its latest AirPods model, AirPods 5, with active noise cancellation as a standard feature, marking a significant update to its wireless earbuds lineup. According to reports, the new AirPods 5 come in two distinct models, with the base model priced at $129 and the premium version at $149. The base model includes on-device volume control, while the premium version offers additional features like a wireless charging case.

Apple claims that the new AirPods 5 provide a 50% improvement in noise reduction compared to the previous generation, AirPods 4. Both models benefit from a redesigned acoustic architecture and updated Adaptive EQ, which promise richer, more detailed sound. The new earbuds also feature Personalized Spatial Audio, allowing users to get fully immersed in their audio content.

Both AirPods 5 models include Adaptive Audio, which automatically blends noise cancellation and Transparency mode, and Conversation Awareness, which adjusts playback volume when the wearer starts speaking. Additionally, Live Translation is supported when paired with a compatible iPhone with Apple Intelligence enabled.

Battery life is also a highlight, with the base model delivering up to five hours of listening with noise cancellation enabled, or up to 22 hours with the case. The case supports Apple Watch and Qi chargers alongside USB-C, providing versatile charging options. Preorders for the new AirPods 5 are now available, with availability beginning on Friday, September 18.
