The adaptation, which is set to premiere in October 2026, will also feature Dylan Hawco, Lili Taylor, Ella Beatty, and Maggie Kuntz in supporting roles. The film is produced by Focus Features and is based on the seminal novel by Sylvia Plath.

In a recent announcement, the video for the anime adaptation of the manga by Gyōmuyōmochi was revealed, featuring more cast members, the opening theme song "Ember Torch" by the rock band sumika, and a premiere date of October 6. The manga, which was launched in November 2021, has since moved to Kodansha's Comic Days app.
