San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Alfred Collins is out for the season after tearing his patellar tendon during practice in Australia, according to coach Kyle Shanahan. The injury occurred at AAMI Park on Tuesday.

Collins was set to play extensively as the 49ers' probable starting nose tackle this season, but the severity of the tear means he will miss the remainder of the 2023 campaign.

The 49ers face the Los Angeles Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday morning, with Collins likely to be absent from the lineup.
