At least two people were killed and seven wounded in Russian ballistic missile attacks on Kyiv, according to the Kyiv city military administration. The attacks, which resumed after a brief ceasefire, targeted residential buildings and districts on the outskirts of the capital, damaging several structures.
Drones also hit buildings in Kyiv and the Boryspil and Fastiv districts, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. An air raid alert urged residents to take shelter due to the threat of an 'enemy' drone attack.
Russian regional Governor Roman Busargin claimed a Ukrainian drone attack injured several people after hitting civilian infrastructure in Saratov, nearly 1,000km from Moscow, though this was disputed by Ukrainian officials.
Following the reported attacks, Russian and Ukrainian leaders announced a ceasefire during visits by US President Donald Trump’s envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to Moscow and Kyiv. However, the strikes resumed shortly after the visits, with Russia hitting Kyiv after a three-day pause in attacks on the capitals expired.
Kyiv is suffering more daily air raid alerts than at any time since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, according to BBC Verify analysis of government figures. The attacks, which used to come at night, are now occurring during the day, causing significant disruption to schools and businesses and adding to the stress and anxiety of residents.

- But analysis of figures from the state-owned app Kyiv digital shows that since the round-the-clock Russian attacks began at the end of August, air raid sirens have sounded across Kyiv's skies on average 10 times a day.
- "You can all see that the Russians have changed the tactics of their strikes against Ukraine and, since August, have been terrorising our people, our cities and our villages far more intensely," the president said.
