The FDA has warned a Bombardier supplier about cleanliness issues, including residue on walls and floors, a corroded product line, and employees wearing open-toed sandals, leading to a halt on all product shipments into the U.S. last month.
According to STAT+, these concerns about filth and possible contamination prompted the FDA to act, as evidenced by incomplete laboratory testing records.
Bombardier CEO Eric Martel stated that the company works with over 2,800 U.S.-based suppliers and spends more than $2.5 billion annually with them, highlighting the company's reliance on U.S. manufacturing.
In a related development, President Trump announced plans to increase tariffs on U.S. steel products and impose charges on various consumer goods, affecting Bombardier's business jets unless they are produced in the U.S.
The FDA has also issued recalls for contaminated blueberries, with illnesses linked to GreenWise products sold at Publix, and a broader recall for Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend sold at Walmart in 16 states, both tied to an E. coli outbreak.
