The 20th data release of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey

In Short: The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), a pioneering multi-spectral imaging and spectroscopic redshift survey, has just made its twentieth data release (DR 20), expanding its legacy with a massive operational expansion into the Southern Hemisphere and all-sky panoptic spectroscopy.
According to Dr. Anne-Marie Weijmans, the SDSS Data Products Coordinator, the goal is to make the data accessible to everyone, from professional astronomers to students and casual enthusiasts.
This latest release includes newly reduced spectroscopic data from the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) obtained through February 2nd, 2025, from both hemispheres, combined with data from all previous SDSS phases.
The SDSS is transitioning into a massive international project, with multiple observatories contributing to the panoptic spectroscopic map planned for the ongoing SDSS-V survey.
For brands and retailers seeking customer feedback, traditional surveys may no longer be sufficient, as Quantum Metric is launching Quantum Metric Voice of Customer (VoC) to connect customer feedback directly to behavioral session data.

- When it first started in 2000, the SDSS was an optical/spectral survey of the Northern Hemisphere conducted solely by the 2.5-meter Sloan Foundation Telescope.
