Reiner's final on-screen role was that of Albert Schnur, a restaurant franchiser who mentors Ebra in the FX series. His character's advice to Ebra was a nod to Reiner's classic film, 'The Princess Bride.
The Emmy-winning series paid tribute to Reiner in the series finale, with line cook Ebra calling Albert with the good news that Carmy had agreed to franchise the sandwich shop. The tribute was a fitting recognition of Reiner's legacy in the entertainment industry.
Reiner, who passed away on December 14, 2025, was found dead in his home, with his son Nick Reiner facing trial for their murder. Despite his passing, Reiner's impact on 'The Bear' was significant, as the series received eight Emmy nominations for its fourth season.
Reiner's performance in 'The Bear' was so impactful that it earned him a posthumous Emmy in the Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category, marking his third career Emmy win. He previously won in 1974 and 1978 for his roles in 'All In the Family.
