Pound Sterling's Rate Advantage Fades as BoE Holds Rate
Developing
In Short: The Pound Sterling, once favored due to its higher policy rate, now faces a hold decision from the Bank of England, signaling a shift in its advantage over the Dollar.

One of the four Bank of England (BoE) policymakers voted to raise the Bank Rate by a quarter point in July, highlighting the internal debate within the central bank.
Despite the higher policy rate and larger tightening path over twelve months, the Pound Sterling's rate advantage over the Dollar has diminished, as the Federal Reserve's effective rate now stands at 3.63%.
Markets now price 71.9 basis points of Bank of England tightening over the next year against 59.5 from the Federal Reserve, with terminal rates expected to be 4.47% in London and 4.22% in Washington by mid-2027.
This session will cover July's report and the BoE's decision to hold the Bank Rate, marking a significant shift in the dynamics between the Pound and the Dollar.
