Audi has unveiled the new A2 E-tron, a larger electric hatchback based on the Volkswagen ID.3 platform, marking a significant update to the original A2 that went out of production 21 years ago. According to CarExpert, the new A2 E-tron is significantly larger and features a completely conventional steel monocoque body, unlike the original's aluminum space frame architecture. The car's design is unique, with influences from the 1999-2005 A2, including wheel arch creases, side window graphics, and a rounded roof line.

The A2 E-tron boasts impressive aerodynamic performance, with a coefficient of drag of 0.24, making it the most aerodynamic Audi to date. This is achieved through a flat underbody, aero wheel designs, and gap reducers and breathers integrated into the wheel arches. Additionally, the car features semi-hidden door handles, further enhancing its sleek appearance. Audi is pitching the A2 E-tron as an efficient car, with a combined consumption of just 12.8 kWh/100km (WLTP) or 4.85 miles per kWh, making it the most efficient Audi ever, according to The Autopian.

The A2 E-tron is priced at 38,200 euros in Germany, starting at this price point. The car's interior features a unique Softwrap finish for the dashboard and doorcards, as highlighted by The Autopian. While the original A2 was known for its frugal nature, the new A2 E-tron aims to offer a similar level of efficiency through its design and technology. The car's lengthened range is attributed to its efficient design and low consumption, making it a compelling choice for those seeking an affordable and eco-friendly electric vehicle.
