54 Train Services to Skip Chandigarh for Over a Month Starting Thursday

In Short: Starting Thursday, 54 train services will skip Chandigarh railway station for 36 days, with passengers required to board or disembark at Ambala Cantonment station.
Passengers traveling to Chandigarh by train will have to get off at Ambala Cantonment station or start their journey from there for the next 36 days, as the Railways has decided to short-terminate and short-originate 54 train trips beginning Thursday.
The disruption is due to ongoing upgrades at the Chandigarh railway station, including the construction of a foot overbridge, which will be completed from September 10 to October 15.
To ease passenger inconvenience, the railway has announced temporary additional halts at Mohali station for several trains, including the Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express, Agra Cantt-Hoshiarpur, Saharsa-Amritsar Jan Sadharan Express, and the Dehradun-Amritsar Express.
Among the services affected are the Ramnagar-Chandigarh Express, Ajmer-Chandigarh-Ajmer Garib Rath, and the Udaipur-Chandigarh-Udaipur Express, with Train 20989 being short-terminated at Ambala Cantt and its return journey short-originating from Platform 2 of the station.
The change means passengers whose tickets are for Chandigarh on the affected services will have to factor in the additional journey between Chandigarh and Ambala Cantt, while those starting their journey from Chandigarh will similarly have to reach Ambala Cantt to board the affected service.
