After the tragic loss of her 14-year-old son, Sewell Setzer III, following an intense relationship with an AI companion chatbot, Garcia has transformed her grief into a mission to safeguard other children and families from similar dangers, according to a Sept. 2 press release from the diocese.

The National Catholic Bioethics Center has joined forces with the Catholic University of America to offer a master’s degree in moral theology and ethics, furthering the conversation on AI and ethical considerations.
