The Facial Recognition System at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi identified Yogesh, alias Raju, at around 4:24 pm on July 25. Yogesh, who is currently in Tihar Jail, was flagged by the system as one of at least 25 men already incarcerated for serious crimes such as murder, attempted murder, rape, and crimes against children.
According to police, jail, and court records, Yogesh initially worked with the gang of Cheenu Pehelwan, a rival of Bishnoi-Hashim Baba. He later left this group due to remuneration issues and joined Bishnoi-Hashim Baba's gang in 2023.
The identification of Yogesh at Jantar Mantar highlights the effectiveness of the Facial Recognition System in identifying individuals with criminal backgrounds, even when they are not in custody. This technology has been instrumental in flagging at least 25 known criminals at the protest site.
