Born in Lebanon and relocated to the United States in 1983, Archbishop-elect Maroun has served as pastor of St. Maron Maronite parish in Minneapolis for over 35 years.
Archbishop Hebda of St. Paul and Minneapolis praised Maroun's pastoral heart and generous leadership, stating that he has been inspired by Maroun's collaborative approach.
The partnership between the Maronite Archdiocese and the Archeparchy of Damascus dates back to 2017, making this appointment particularly significant for the archdiocese.
