President Donald Trump announced the nomination of Hung Cao, a former Navy special operations officer, as the next Secretary of the Navy, calling him a 'true WARRIOR' and urging the Senate to confirm him quickly.

In a tweet on Truth Social, Trump wrote, 'I am pleased to nominate a true WARRIOR, Hung Cao, to become the next Secretary of the Navy.' He also called on the Senate to confirm Cao 'ASAP, so he can continue the fantastic work he has been doing over the past 4 months.

Cao, who previously lost to Kaine before joining the Trump administration and taking over the Navy in an acting capacity earlier this year, thanked Trump and stated his priorities would include shipbuilding and homeland defense.

The nomination comes amid concerns about sailors being stretched thin during the Iran conflict, and Trump's approval of the Navy's demonstration squadron, the Blue Angels, flying dangerously low over a Florida beach.
