Longtime Apple executive Phil Schiller is stepping down from his role as the head of the App Store and Apple events, according to a report from Bloomberg. On Monday, Bloomberg reported that Phil Schiller, long the head of Apple’s App Store, stepped down from his position in recent days.
At the time, Schiller said he would stay at Apple for "as long as they will have me," but added that he wanted to make time for family, friends, and personal projects. As reported by Bloomberg , Apple is moving the App Store division under services head Eddy Cue, while Carson Oliver will continue to lead the store with the help of Ann Thai, who is in charge of app distribution tools and third-party marketplaces.
The monopoly claims were ultimately dismissed, and the judge in the case largely ruled in Apple’s favor. In 2024, The Wall Street Journal said Schiller was working close to 80 hours a week.
The retirement of Lisa Jackson , vice president for Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives, was also announced in December, as was that of general counsel Kate Adams. However, the company was still ordered to ensure that app developers could link to external payment options.
