New York housing block explosion leaves teenager dead as authorities link blaze to lithium-ion battery

An explosion at a New York City housing authority building that left a teenager dead and set the building on fire over the weekend was linked to an e-bike’s lithium-ion battery, according to a report. Authorities found an 18-year-old man unconscious inside an apartment in the building.

Fire officials said the blaze broke out around 7 p.m.
