At Daisy Chain Fields, Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan and Honored Forebears Convene for a Superb Festival That’s Hot to Go in Every Way: Concert Review

Olivia Rodrigo and Stevie Nicks performed a moving rendition of “Landslide” at the pop singer’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival, as it was announced that the event had raised $20m for women-focused organisations – aided by a donation from Melinda French Gates.
On the eve of the festival, she shared a statement that said Daisy Chain Fields was created “to celebrate the power of what can happen when we come together to support one another”. McLachlan was a special guest at Rodrigo’s festival; the “Drop Dead” star brought her out during her headline set and said without Lilith Fair, “there would be no Daisy Chain”.
“It’s a real honor to announce that we are donating $10 million to be given directly to these 10 nonprofit partners that you just had the pleasure of hearing about,” Rodrigo said at a press conference attended by 10 organizations that advocate for women and girls and were participating in the festival.
Before she began her performance, Rodrigo thanked all of the musicians who took part in the festival: “The fact that they took the time out of their insanely busy schedules to come and do this festival for free is something I’m so grateful for,” she said.
Rachel Chinouriri told Rolling Stone she was excited to be on the Daisy Chain lineup and stressed the importance of supporting all of the nonprofits, and said Black Mamas Matter Alliance in particular is close to her heart.
History isn’t quite that simple, but for 10-plus hours Saturday, I was ready to jump in and readily make the case that the respective eras of Alanis Morissette (who also showed up as a surprise guest) and Rodrigo really were and are the greatest generations, whether it can be empirically backed up or not.
Following her performance, Chinouriri said she was excited to join the lineup, shouted out Lilith Fair, and gave kudos to Rodrigo for her inclusiveness when it came to the nonprofit partners. Or not literally quite the end, actually, because it was inevitable when Stevie Nicks was announced as one of Rodrigo’s guests that you don’t follow that.
“She’s devoted her life to empowering women and girls that might have otherwise been forgotten,” Rodrigo said. Hanna said that when they played Orange County in the ’90s, they were lucky if three women showed up to one of their gigs (and then she brought out three Irvine-ites who did form their own band after getting into Bikini Kill).
