Miley Cyrus Remembers Godmother Dolly Parton: “I Have An Angel By My Side”
Confirmed

"Our beloved Dolly Parton spent her life and career bringing joy, laughter, hope and integrity into everything she touched," her team said in a statement. Dolly called me and said she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton because, after a life of wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest.
“In true Dolly fashion, she just looked at me, winked and said, ‘Honey, this trash sells records!’” “I have so many moments and memories with Dolly, it’s hard to know where to start. After they collaborated on the “Wrecking Ball” duet, Parton said on X that Miley was the “most gifted person I know” and that she was proud to be her godmother.
“We just got to be good friends because he’s a Kentucky boy, I’m from Tennessee,” Parton had said previously about their relationship. In a tribute of his own, Billy Ray said he loved Parton with his whole heart, and shared anecdotes from their 1992 tour.
Miley said on Instagram Wednesday: “The feeling of losing my Aunt Dolly is beyond what feels right to share. "I thought, 'Ooh, that's what I want to be when I grow up — trash,'" Parton said.
“And he said … ‘We’re having a girl, and you’ve got to be her godmother!’ And I said: ‘Well, I’d be honored.’ So actually, Miley and I took over from there. They had me so scared of God, I was afraid to talk to him.... [But] I really, through the years, found my own place with God.
"I started playing guitar and writing serious songs when I was about 7 years old," she said. A representative said that the singer had dealt with a “brief battle with cancer.
So he said, "This damn television's out of here.
