Human Rights Watch (HRW) has accused the Africa Corps of summarily killing nine civilians, including four children, in Mali last month, according to a statement published on Thursday by Al Jazeera.

Ilaria Allegrozzi, senior Sahel researcher at HRW, stated, 'The Malian [military government] appears to have given Russian Africa Corps forces a green light to kill civilians.

The incident, detailed by HRW, involved more than 100 Africa Corps fighters who rounded up at least 80 men and boys in Bombori village in the central region of Mopti on July 10.

The Malian military government is accused of allowing Russian forces to operate with impunity, leading to the deaths of civilians.

In a statement published on Thursday, HRW accused Africa Corps of carrying out the killings in the presence of Malian soldiers at the beginning of last month.
“The Malian [military government] appears to have given Russian Africa Corps forces a green light to kill civilians,” said Ilaria Allegrozzi, senior Sahel researcher at HRW.
Detailing the incident, the group said that on July 10, more than 100 Africa Corps fighters rounded up at least 80 men and boys in Bombori village in the central region of Mopti.
