Houthi rebels have intensified their attacks in Marib, Yemen, killing at least eight government soldiers and two civilians, according to reports. The UN special envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, warned that the country now faces a greater risk of renewed large-scale conflict than at any point since the UN-brokered truce of April 2022.
The attacks, which included missiles, drones, and shelling, targeted military camps and residential areas in Marib city. The Yemeni military source stated that 12 government forces were wounded, while the health minister Qasim Buhaibeh reported two civilian deaths and 14 injuries.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree claimed that they had attacked a government military camp in Marib province, stating, 'The Saudi enemy continued to mobilize and incite its forces... these forces were attacked along with their arsenals, vehicles and military equipment in the Sahn al-Jinn camp with a large number of missiles and drones.
The Saudi-led coalition supporting the Yemeni government vowed not to stand idly by against the Houthi attacks, with a source stating that Marib was a 'red line.' The attacks have killed at least 58 government troops, mainly in Marib, according to an army source.
