What we know

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday that Russian attacks on Kyiv and the surrounding region killed 17 people and wounded dozens, after an overnight barrage Ukraine’s Air Force put at 24 ballistic missiles, four hypersonic or anti-ship missiles, and 115 drones. Authorities reported no ballistic missiles intercepted—underscoring Zelenskyy’s plea for Patriot interceptors, which he said “could have saved the lives of those killed today.” Thursday was set as a day of mourning in the capital region; at least 44 people were injured.

The strike wave tore into civilian logistics: Rozetka’s largest Brovary distribution hub was destroyed by three ballistic missiles and cannot be restored, co-founder Iryna Chechotkina said; Nova Poshta reported a Kyiv sorting center destroyed; Epicentr said missiles wrecked logistics and production sites, killing one employee and wounding three. Ukraine’s Air Force said 98 of 115 drones were downed or jammed. The same overnight window, Tula governor Dmitry Milyaev said a Ukrainian drone hit a Wildberries warehouse in Aleksin, sparking a fire with one injury and a preemptive evacuation.
