What we know

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Iran was negotiating with Oman toward an understanding on a temporary Strait of Hormuz shipping route and was not negotiating with the United States. Tehran said it had no plans to host foreign delegations or send negotiators abroad in the coming days.

Trump nonetheless told reporters talks were happening and later branded Iranian leadership “unbelievably duplicitous” on Truth Social for denying discussions while, he said, asking for meetings. The public mismatch left markets and allies parsing mediator drafts versus bilateral claims.
